The Taking 20 podcast is a weekly podcast devoted to tabletop role-playing games and helping dungeon masters and players learn, grow, and hopefully teach others as a result. As a result of shows like Critical Role, Stranger Things, and others, role playing games have experienced quite the renaissance recently. More people than ever before are interested in this wonderful Tabletop Role Playing Game hobby. Episodes are kept to 20 minutes to give you more time for gaming but hopefully help you with tips and tricks to give you and your players more fun and a better experience at your table.
But who am I and why should you listen to this slack-jawed yokel?
If you're a veteran DM, Jeremy's perspective may help center you on the basics of DM'ing and give you some new tools to put in your DM'ing toolbelt. Jeremy has been playing roleplaying games since the Dungeons and Dragons red box basic set that came out in 1983. Since then, he's gone on to Dungeon Master every edition of D&D 1st through 5th, he GMs a Pathfinder and Pathfinder 2e campaign and various adventures and one-shots from 5th edition to Starfinder. Other than those listed, I have played and/or run games in Battletech, Vampire the Masquerade, Shadowrun, GURPS Modern, Traveller, Star Wars (D20 and D6), Paranoia, Marvel as well as a few others. Over that time I've picked up a few tricks and I hope to pass them on to you so that you'll be primed for the best time whether behind the DM screen or in front of it.
Plus, each episode is less than 20 minutes long. You're busy. I'm busy. Your pet mimic is busy. I keep these episodes short and sweet. I'd like to say that's because I stick to the meat of the issue but we do chase the occasional rabbit about anything from movies to 1980s music to what sound a bag of antlers would make if you dropped it down the stairs.
Whether you're new to DM'ing or a Tabletop veteran, check out Episode 0 for a brief introduction. Hopefully, you'll like what you hear and will stick around.
Thank you for listening and I hope that your next game is your best game.
